GPL keyboard 'control'?

Hi All,

Has anybody managed to successfully control the cars using the keyboard?

I've tried for hours and hours but still hopeless...  Any settings that make
the car more controllable with the ol' keyboard would be appreciated.

Got to get that wheel!

Try messing with the linear/non linear option in the controls menu...

Yep.

Me and my mate have it installed on our office pcs at work so we have
multiplayer races some nights. Obviously we can't really have a steering
wheel on the desk so we play with the keys and as long as we stick to
certain circuits that do not have tricky S bends, where quick wheel
response is essential, we do ok. So basically we only race at Spa,
Monza, Watkins Glen, Silverstone and Monaco (badly) although we're
currently trying some of the other circuits out with varying success
until we learn the tracks. Oh and the autobox of course and you tend to
have your hands full with go/stop/left/right and setups from Alison Hines.

We seem to qualify around 10th-16th depending on whether we got a clean
lap and seem to hold position or move up a little for 6-9 lap races in
F2 cars with the AI slow down patch. (for comparison my best lap at
Monza in a Coventry is 1.42 and 1.32 in the F1 Lotus)

As for technique, we find it works well if you just chuck the nose of
the car into the corner and keep the power on whilst nudging the nose in
a bit and letting it understeer a little but try not to correct with
opposite lock as this often results in a tank slapper that's virtually
uncatchable.

I know all the purists will slaughter you (and us) for not having a
wheel but we don't have pc's at home (working on it Mr Bank Manager :) )
so it's difficult to justify spending 60ukp on something to play games
at work. Heck, we don't even have a 3d card on our work pc so we play
with software rendering on a 333Mhz with frame rates of around 12-16fps
with almost all the detail on and it looks just fine.
