Nascar 99 Upgrade

I currently have N2 Special Edition which has all the N2 and BGN tracks, but
it's the same 'ol N2. I was wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade to
N99 now, or should I wait for N3 to come out.

BTW, speaking of N3, does anyone have an idea of what the recommended
configuration should be to run N3?

If you want trucks, or you'd like more tracks, or you have a 3Dfx card
GET it!  Otherwise, there are many patches on the net that can give you 80%
of NR99 (without the tracks!).  There's even a (GOOD) patch for adding
trucks to N2.  It was certainly worth the gas it cost me to get it (got my
rebate back <GGG>).

Any statements not coming from Papyrus would be speculation, but you
could infer from GPL that you'll need a decent D3D video card (3Dfx would be
a good option, too), 32MB RAM minimum, P2-233 (or a P-266 with 64MB and a
Voodoo2).  I think have a V2 will make a big difference because of its
texture memory size (or a Canopus Pure3D).

Don,

Thanks for the input. Yeah, I figgered that I could get a lot of patches to
upgrade N2 and get a lot of N99. So I think I'll stick with N2 until N3
comes out. Don't want to get an "interim" package before the real thing hits
the streets.

Instead of the 233 PII or 266 PII......Id reccomend AT LEAST a PII 400-450
for N3.......yes same engine as GPL, but dont forget guys, we will be
dealing with ai fields of 38+ cars.....and with inproved AI, plus the fact
of more objects to draw, thats gonna take some CPU horsepower to keep you in
frame rate bliss.
