F1 2001 video problems

by Bret » Wed, 03 Apr 2002 12:32:48

Hey everyone, I just bought F1 2001.  The game is amazing but I am
having a little problem with it.  Overall the game runs excellent on
my computer, good FPS, and great graphics.  Unfortunately, whenever I
come in to make a pit stop, the car will stop and then the crew will
begin working on the car.  As the camera view goes to an external view
of the pitstop the video of it freezes and the screen begins to flash.
The pitstop continues, even though the video has frozen and is
flashing.  Once the pitstop is complete the camera is returned to the
***pit and I can continue racing.

My specs are as follows:
AMD 1.4 Ghz
256MB ram
Visiontek GeForce3 64MB (12.41 drivers NOTE: these are the only
drivers that work properly with my system, I've tried many things,
even reformatting, in order to get updated drivers working properly,
but none have ever worked)
SB Live X-gamer sound card
40 GB hard drive

I hope my problem makes sense.  Any answers or suggestions are greatly
appreciated :)

I would try the 21.83 drivers that are whql.  Even tho you have tried
other drivers, F1 2001 was patched with the 21.83's as the target.  Good
luck...and MAKE SURE you have all your background programs turned offf.
((enditall2 is great for that))

You can eliminate the "floating outside your car" external pit view by
setting LockedPitCam=0 in your <playername>.plr file in f1 2001/save
directory. This will keep you in***pit view through the entire pit
stop, which is more realistic anyway.

Someone mentioned that turning off pitlane assistance might eliminate this
"bug". If you already have pitlane assistance off, then please ignore this
suggestion..
