GPL not starting

by Txl » Mon, 05 Dec 2005 03:49:55

Hello,

I wa&nted to fire up the Ferrari in Spa but for somereason my GPL won't start anymore.

I have reinstalled it from my saved data but it still won't load, I launch the 0exe file and it comes back to windows after 3-4 seconds of CPU usage without even showing the black papyrus screen.

I don't know what could be wrong, the only thing I've changed lately is to install a new MS joystick so I was expecting to recalibrate my act labs wheel and pedals but I can't even get there.

Thanks for the help

Has it run at all since you reinstalled it? (Or is the problem
Ferrari and/or Spa only?)

You might try installing from the original CD-ROM (to get all the
proper stuff into the Windows registry), and *then* copying over
your saved data into the GPL directory. That should work, if I
remember some old posts correctly.

Actually....  GPL doesn't create any registry entries so an 'install'
wouldn't do anything.
I would look at the track and car files - as Darryl suggested first.

One of the most common reasons for this is if you move gpl to a folder
which doesn't have file indexing enabled in XP. Simply enable it to make
it work.

GPL can otherwise be simply copied from folder to folder with no need to
  go through an installation routine.
