F1GP2 -- supports network play??

Does Grand Prix2 support IPX network play at all or is it just like
the old one World Circuit with modem and direct-null modem link?
That feature is what I'm most interested in.

It does not support network play as released.
It does support modem and direct connect.
It does both of them really well. I just spent
4 hours connected to my P133 and it runs pretty well.
Only wart is if the "other" guy is in the dirt, you
sometimes get a lag on your car and visa versa.

I was hoping it supported network play as well. I was looking into
setting up 4 or more multiplayer racing in my house. Now that would be
a cool racing event!! Did Microprose/Spectrum H. ever mentioned that
it would? Maybe an update or a patch in the future.

Doen's look like it does support network play to me.  This is a big
disappointment, and I find it hard to believe they have left it out.
Perhaps they will be a patch in the future (but it could be a long
wait...)

No, No and no...from a current MPS/SH press release.

Me too, and from my friends, me 3,4 etc....

I'm a little less optimistic than JEB. Reading between the lines and
going on past precedent from MPS over the past couple of years, quote:
"There is no MP LAN support in F1GP2." end quote, also means IMO that
'there ain't never gonna' be either'. After all this would be a huge
selling feature. Would't you promote it if you were MPS and intended to
do it a a module later?

Well much though I won't *usually* buy ANYTHING without LAN support
these days, I've gotta take my hat of to GC and say this sim stands out
as exceptional even against just the PC and one (modem) human opponent.

I've only had GP2 one day, but it's truly remarkable in every aspect.

Worth the wait and definitely worth buying.

I was dissapointed too. No network play even for two players. However,
anybody interested in multiplayer network play must consider to send a
msg to the following addresses asking for that feature. Perhaps a lot
of mail will make mps change their mind.
Here are the address:

For Germany:

For Europe:

For USA:

I had sent a mail to Microprose Europe and they had answered me the
day after. So please, if you would like to play via network then just
send a mail.

Bye.
