Need For Speed SE and T2 Calibration Problems with p200-MMX

by Jason R Smi » Wed, 05 Feb 1997 04:00:00

I have just recevied my T2 Wheel back from Thrustmaster and have been
playing all of my racing games fine, with the exception of Need For
Speed SE.  Even after installing the adapter on the joystick cord, I
continue to have very poor calibration problems when trying to drive
using the T2.  I know this is not a hardware issue, since this works
fine without the adapter in Nascar2, Indycar2, and all of my other
racing simulations.  Any help would be appreciated.

BTW, I have owned the original Need For Speed, not the special
Edition, and things have worked fine.  Has there been a change in the
programming??

Thanks

If you play under WIN95 then you need to calibrate joystick under
Windows too.
The NFS calibration procedure must be carefully done or wheel will
tend to one direction. Turn the wheel fully into left or right direction
and press pedals till end (more than necessary that graphics gear box is
at right position). I always follow the order of gears 1-6 and then
turn to middle to press a button.
If doing it perfectly then it should be able to drive on straight
streets without wheel corrections.

This is strictly from a Dos Prompt.

I has no problems with Need For Speed.  Its just the SE version that
is driving me nuts.

If anyone has a joystick file for the game that is calibrated
correctly for a T2, please respond here.

Have you tried using the JCU.EXE utility? (DOS version) It works for
me. Never did get the Win95 version working, but why would you want
your game to run slower anyway?
