No (and yes)

GP2 will not gain anything from MMX or 3D, but the MMX P200 should be
slightly faster than an "ordinary" P200 due to better internal
architecture. However, the increase in speed will be zero compared to the
price difference...

Does grand prix 2 run any better with the new p200 mmx chip and a 4 meg
mystic 3d card?

Well I disagree.  I used to run a p133 and GP2 just wouldnt run.  I
just built a p200mmx , 64mb RAM, Matrox Mystique, and I now achieve
26+ Frame rate in svga with everything on except for clouds.  Now if
you ask me, thats performance.

Well, I just built a P166, 32M RAM amd Matrox Mystique 2M SGRAM,
and the game runs with 25.6 fps with mwdium details, everything on
except clouds. Looks like the matrox video card is playing a bigger
role than the Pentium VS. MMX ...

That was not what I ment.
Ofcause a P200MMX and a Mystique will kick some serious ass, but in GP2 an
ordinary P200, with a fast non 3D adaptor, will give you the same
performance.

I have a p200/32mb,/S3 and I dont get near that performance except maybe
at a couple of tracks
that barely have trackside detail. Monico? No way, MMX technolgy doesnt
effect framerate in
GP2. I really dont know how your figuring you get 26+ framerate.

Well, here is a f...Up!

If you use a P200 MMX and a Matrox Mystique, you have wasted money!
I have recived information about both the P200MMX and the mystique that
says that
if you already have a Mystique you don't need a MMX because it uses MMX
technology.
I'm using a MMX200 and a Matrox Millenium and and this is POWER!
I have tried the mystique and a 200mmx and that diden't match the above
hardware!

-- I have now bought the new p200mmx and the 4meg mystic. With everything on
except sky and mirrors i get 25.6 frames per second.I have 40meg ram should i go
for 64meg ram or will i not see a difference in gp2 with it.

Probably won't make much of a difference, if you already have 40 megs.

Hi Sweden

The thing about Mystique supporting MMX is wrong, VERY WRONG.

Hi Billy

You will se absolutely NO, ZERO, ZIPPO, NADA, NUL difference. A P200MMX
with a Mystique as a VERY nice combo, but not faster for GP2 that a P200
with a Diamond 2D card. :-(
(Not yet anyway)

Processors with MMX have a processor cache two times bigger than a
normal pentium. This accounts for a increase of speed of about 15 %

I have a 200 MMX with 4MB Mystique. With everything turned on I'm
getting 16 FPS.

David, I'm sorry your wrong and Chris is right! I have a 200MMX
with a STB 128 Lightspeed and i'm also getting 26+ frames with all but
clouds turned on!

Lars, I'm sorry you are wrong I had an identically prepared P200 and
a 200MMX and it was worth 4-5 frames per sec with the MMX winning out on
GP2!
