I have a P200 MMX 96 MB RAM Hercules Stingray 128/3D
Will GPL run in about 24 fps on this system? Will adding a Voodoo 2
(with my old 2D board) improve framerate?
DOK

I suspect the Stingray will take a hit, but I wouldn't let this stop you from
enjoying a terrific, if frustrating, sim. As to the V2, I can't say. I
wouldn't upgrade to it just because of this.

As for the graphics card, I don't know what chipset the Stingray uses.
If it is Rendition 2x00, keep it and don't add a V2 (for GPL purposes,
at least.) If it's a Rendition 1000, a Voodoo 1 or 2 will probably
give some better performance. If the Stingray doesn't have a Rendition
chipset at all, you definitely will need another card.
From what I read here and elsewhere, it seems as if a Voodoo 2 card
uses a lot of processor power to achieve maximum performance.
Processor power is exactly what we Pentium non-II users don't have in
excess. :) A cheap Voodoo 1 would probably be a better choice for your
current system, but you won't want to keep it once you upgrade,
probably.
