There are quite some problems, for instance you also get punished when
an AI hits you from behind, but all in all I think the system works
better than GT4. Also to my surprise Enthusia also includes the
Nordschleife, allthough I like the version of GT4 much more.
Also much better than GT4 are the rally races. Try driving through the
desert with a Jaguar E-type with default settings. Fun :)
Definately check this one out if you're into simracing.

The whole rewarding system is quite complicated since so many
variables are involved, but there is one thing I really don't
understand, and the manual also doesn't explain this.

When you select a race, you see the odds of winning for each car.on
each track.I don't gamble so I don't have any clue how this works.

When for example the odds are 5:8, what does it mean? Is it the same
as 4:7? And the other way around, for example 8:1, is that good or
bad?

Interesting.  I've seen a few reviews, some positive, some not.  
Most do not claim it is on par with GT4.  But I might just give it
a try when it is a budget title ... and after I tire of both GT4
and Forza.

Well, if they are using the terminology as I understand it ...
5:8 would mean that if you wagered $8, you'd win $5 (well, $5 plus
your original $8), which would make you the favorite.

If I have it correct, your probability of winning equals
(second number)/(total of numbers).  So you have a 8/13th's chance
of winning.  4:7 is similar, but is slightly more favored:
7/11th's.  1:1 is even money, a 50% chance.  8:1 would mean you
have a 1 in 9 chance of winning, i.e. a long shot.

Yes, opinions seems very mixed about this one. I think it's largely
due to the lack in presentation, graphics and game modes.
There is much more to do in GT4, it all looks much better and GT4
simply feels much more complete.
But especially the lack of AI in GT4 is a major turnoff, you will
especially notice this after you had some good fights with the AI in
Enthusia. The physics of Enthusia also seem to depend on the cars -
for most cars the physics feel excellent, better than GT4, but some
cars feel really strange, especially the shelby cobra is simply
undrivable. Even at slow speeds I can't keep the damn car on the road
:-/

After some more testing I noticed that you get a bonus multiplied with
the ''odds'' number, indicating that simply the higher the number, the
worse your odds are. All in all it's still a bit vague to me how the
ranking system works, but I managed to climb from position 893 to 498
in about 3 hours of racing tonight. This kind of worries me, I only
chose the races with the worst odds to get the highest ranking points,
and I won every race, even though I drove for the first time on most
of the tracks. I really hope it gets more difficult to reach the #1
spot.
