I got this response from Dave Broske today:

Hi,

Yes, I'd like to see VR on the PS2 as well. Tell Sierra. They're
the ones who own VR. If they wanted to do another one we'd talk
to them about it of course!

It appears that the best way is to contact Sierra by snail mail.
Here's the address. Let them know that you would like to see Viper
Racing or Viper Racing 2 for the PS2, PC or Xbox today.

That's nice to hear, but I'd be more interested in MGI using that fabulous
racing engine of theirs to make a Sportscar racing game for the PC or X-Box.
I can't believe the publishers of F1200x get away with using that horrid
looking engine time and time again. THAT is one engine that should be put
out to pasture. Everytime I get a PC good enough to run one of the F1200x
games with a full field smoothly (over 30fps), they release a newer game
that once again chokes my PC. I wouldn't have a problem with it if it looked
as good as either of the Nascar Games or MBTR or even a souped up (16-bit
graphics, newer carsets) GPL!!!

They use a new engine for F12001. It looks excellent and runs very well.

And if it had a half decent multiplayer system, it could well be
considered a classic.  We have have bickering F1ers' here ever since
Crammond first wrote World Circuit...Rarely have so many agreed about a
single title like they are with F1 2001.  I would suspect GP4 and F1RC 2
will have to be major upgrades to keep up...could be an interesting summer.

I was including their F1 2001 engine in my post. That's why I referred to F1
200x. That engine is just a modification of their old one and I'm sorry but
it still suffers from the same problem. Too much horespower for average
visuals. Does it look better than their old games? Yes. Does it compare to
the newer games. No way.

MGI and Papyrus have excellent engines that look great and perform even
better. That's why the prospect of a Sportscar game by either company would
definitely get me, and I'm sure many in this group, e***d.

What kind of video card are you using? It looks nothing like the old engine,
and runs far better. FPS aren't quite as high as F1RC, but are in the
ballpark.

N2002 is very nice, but I don't think it looks as good as F12001.

I don't think there are many people here who will agree with your view on
the F12001 graphics. It's about as good as they get right now in auto sims.
There is also a spotscar mod out for F12001 which looks and plays great btw.

No, it is not a MODIFICICATION. It is a COMPLETELY NEW ENGINE...It is MUCH
better then F1 2k, and does not deserve to be spoken down upon like they are
the same thing.

No it isn't. It's a new engine, and I've been able to play all F1200x games
with the same PC, a 667mhz P3 w/ a GeForce DDR. Works great with F12001,
just have to get the drivers right.

Also, the physics calculations are very advanced, maybe even more advanced
than N4.

Thanks,
Alex

F12001 runs great on my system. Better than N4 if you want a comparison.
