Nascar 2 Demo & Cyrix...Problem, Papyrus?

Nascar 2 Demo & Cyrix...Problem, Papyrus?

From the readme, one of the first requirements:
"The demo requires 16MB RAM and a Pentium."

I REALLY hate to ask, but does this mean it's not compatible with
Cyrix chips?  My tests would indicate this is the case...
I first ran the demo on a P133: no problem.
Then I tried it on a Cyrix 6x86 166+: consistently crashes viewing
drivers or entering the track.
To test the installation, I transferred the entire nascar2 directory
to a P90 (via network), reconfigured univbe and sound: worked
perfectly.
Transferred it back to the Cyrix, reconfigured it: fails.

These systems are configured similarly, with different types of S3
cards and true Soundblasters.  The crash occurs with 100%
consistency when I attempt to view the drivers or actually go to the
track.  Depending on the version of univbe, it either locks
completely or fills the screen with garbage and returns me to DOS.

Any ideas?  Has anyone with a Cyrix 6x86 166+ gotten this to work?

It would appear you are right Sean. My 166+ does the same as yours, as
does any 486 you try to run it on. Apparently, the guys at papyrus like
writing in specific machine code now.

I have identical crashes with an AMD 5x86-133.   It looks like they have used some
Pentium-specific code in the demo.

Same here crashes on my cyrix p150+ sys with 32 meg of ram Only
happens when i want to view drivers or race. What a bummer this means
i wont be buying it :( with half of New Zealand game players too, as
the cyrix range of chips are the biggest sellers down under.
