NASCAR Racing 2 Demo - My $.02 - Please Papyrus people and EVERYONE read

Hello everyone,

A lot of posts in here regarding NASCAR Racing 2 Demo has happened,  I find no
problem in this.  But yet,  people are saying that "the demo sucks" and "its better than GP2."
Come on people,  the Demo isn't out yet!  Quit saying something you have no proof to back up with.

Speaking of which,  people have been flaming Adam Levesque for his "promise" of the 15th release,
people,  if you read back,  it says:  "We hope to have it out around the 15th"
He didn't say that "Yes,  it's coming out the 15th."
Stop blaming Adam,  there's no reason.

My biggest concern is,  my goodness,  the Demo file is 18 MB!!!!   I would bet some cold
hard cash that says most people wont be able to run it (unless those fortunate that have 32MBs and above)
I have a bad computer,  its only a 486DX2-66MHz with 16 MB RAM,  so I guess I'm eliminated,  I wont be able to run the thing.
What is the requirements?  Pentium 66 with 32 MB RAM!  Gez.....
Hope that this file can be "compacted" into 6-10 MB.  Papyrus,  listen to this,  with a game that requires that much memory to boot,
some people won't buy because of the requirements.  I know few people who have tons of memory on their computer,  so think about it.
If there is a way to compact,  you'd better do it.

I just had to get in my two cents here,  please take no offense everyone....

fortunate that have 32MBs and above)

18MB of disk space, not RAM!

Good question, Mark. Sierra/Papyrus hasn't said a word about this. Hey
Adam, are you reading this one?

I believe I read a post by Adam saying they got the demo shrunk down to
about 7MB, which I think was about the size of the ICR2 demo.

Calm down. Have you ever played Hexen? Quake? NASCAR???
These progs occupy more than 16 megs of HARD DRIVE.
Even Doom's WAD file was over 10Mb. The game ran on 486 with 4mb RAM.
Not every file is loaded in RAM at once. They are swapped in and out
as the game progresses.

Hah hah, a guy I work with bought a 386-16 w/4Mg and while at a flea
market found someone with 2 motherboards for sale, a 486 and a 286. He
grabbed one and didn't know till he got home that he grabbed the 286
by mistake.........
And he expects to run Windows, Smart-Cam and Autocad12 on this system
:)

Leave Adam alone we all know what happened to The Pits when ***s flamed
Jed ( not to say that Papyrus will close up shop) BUT the information you
find so useful from him will end. Think about it !!!!!

Thanks,  you struck some relief into me.  I was getting really nervous when I
saw 18MB.  Well,  anyway,  you are right,  Adam,  Ed,  whoever,  PLEASE INFORM
US OF THE REQUIREMENTS!!

Take a look at your current NASCAR directory.  Mine has the NASCAR Track
Pack, a few extra car sets, and the Hawaii multiplayer beta.  It's about
60 Megabytes.

My biggest concern is Adam said that the size of the demo was 18 MB, now
it's about 7 MB.  That must mean that they removed some tracks from the demo
so more people could download it.  Bummer.  That means that we'll have to
wait a month or so to get the real thing before we can blast around most
of the tracks.  I sure hope the demo isn't only the Talladega track and
no others.  Please include a road course and a short track.

Re: The September 15th "deadline"  All of you maniacs that are complaining
are apparently not in the software business.  Papyrus, take your time and
turn out a quality product.  Most people probably don't remember NASCAR 1.00
which had several annoying anomalies like computer cars that were apparently
DWI when heading into the pits.  They'd smash into the pit wall, other cars,
and (most importantly) you.

NASCAR racing 2 is going to be great!  We already have eight guys in the
Albuquerque area that are set up to run multiplayer over IPX.  We're tired
of shooting each other with rocket launchers, we're ready to race!

Ah HA!  Can you top a 386-40MHz with 8 MB RAM!?  And you thought you

I have a 486SX2-50Mhx with 12 MB Ram. Can race 30 cars with most options
off. I pray I don't need to spend $1800 for new equipment to run NASCAR2!.

Please let us know the minimum requirements Adam.

Where do these guys get there information?  This is the first I have heard
the demo has been paired down to 7MB.  It also seems to me all the posts
telling us all to show patients waiting for the demo are by people who have
websites.  Is that a coincidence?  Hmmmmm.

I also have a PBell 486SX2-50Mhz with 8megs. I have been trying to
figure out the cheapest and best upgrade on cpu's or a T2 wheel. I
have to turn all but pavement and decals off, 5 cars ahead and I still
get choppy motion.
