opinion on Logitech Wingman Formula wheel?

by Pasca » Sun, 18 Jul 1999 04:00:00

Hi

I was just wondering if anyone had this wheel and what they think of it.  I
would like to get a second wheel/pedals for my second PC and I found someone
selling this model, practically new, for $60, canadian money at that.  I'm
wondering if that's a good deal.  I don't really care for force feedback -
I've heard it can actually get in the way and I'm having fun without it so
I'll just wait until it gets much cheaper.

Thanks for an input,
Pascal

I've been using the Formula for 4 or 5 months - very nice wheel,
questionable pedals. I just upgraded to the Formula Force, and I'm having
fun trying to make the FF work reasonably well. Right now, I'm a second
quicker with the plain Formula.

For $60 Can, the LT Formula is a great wheel. It is easy to re-wire with
other pedals if you want, and also easy to increase the rotation for finer
control.

Go for it!

I've had my wheel for over a week and absolutely love it.  Force
feedback if done well adds to the game (IMO).  I don't know if it
affects lap times at all, but I'm not looking to set any records.  I'd
rather have the most robust driving experience available and FF helps
with that.

Two things I recommend with this wheel though: (1) Download the 3.20
drivers from www.wingmanteam.com.  (2) Replace the springs in the
pedals with stiffer springs.  The 3.20 drivers increase the amount of
force feedback (even on the default 100% levels), and the springs help
regulate braking and acceleration.  I replaced my springs today, and it
improves the pedals a great bit, but they still lack travel.
