N2 and Windows 95 B Version (Thrustmaster T2 Recognition) ?????????????????

by GBarn » Fri, 23 Jan 1998 04:00:00

I hope someone can help me,  I have just installed Windows 95 B Version and
can't get my T2 to be recognised.  I also have a Gravis Grip and Direct X 5.
The Grip works but I cant for the life of me get my T2 to work,  I've already
tried reinstalling Nascar2 with the (95 B patch ) and then GNESP on top of that
but N2 will not let me setup my Wheel.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I cant even get it to set up in the Game controller (Control Panel).

Thanks,
Gregg

Hi Greg
Go to Thrustmaster's Web Site and download the program called Pro
panel and install it. It will setup Windows for your steering wheel.

Unfortunately the *** device applet or maybe its the OS has problem with
more than 1 game device. Try removing your Gravis stuff so the wheel is the
only device listed and see if that helps. Unfortunately this is a pain in
the ass. I have a GP2 wheel, Sidewinder joystick and a set of MS Gamepads
all ported through a joyswitch. I also use a SpaceORB which is a serial
device and this works for me.

Hope this helps,
J.C.

In almost all cases in order for your controlling device to be
recognized it has to be device #1.  Remove the Gravis Grip from the Game
Controller and install your T2 as device #1.  Then hopefully N2 will
find it.

It is a major nightmare.  I think you need to try reinstalling the driver
for the port that your controller is plugged into, whether it is the sound
card, or a game controller.  I have never found a cut and dry method to fix
it, but I guess every time this has happened, I stumble around long enough
that I finally get it to work by accident.

I had exactly the same problem, but there' a cure: simply run N2 in dos
mode. You might have to load a mouse-driver first.

Okay, I'll call it ignorance if that is what you want. ;-)  But, that
should be okay, cuz we are gonna take care of that. <G>

At a DOS prompt type ver.

[Version 4.00.950] = to "A" version

[Version 4.00.1111] = to B version

As to getting ThrustMaster's ProPanel applet.  You don't "need" it, but
it is highly suggested to get it and use it.  It has a better and finer
calibration routine than either Win95's Joystick or Game Controller
applets.  While it may look very similar to the latter, it should
provide you with better control due to its improved calibration
readings.

I also had to run N2 in DOS. Simply installing the Thrustmaster program
didn't do.

I had the same problem. I reloaded the newest patch via Sierra. Took
care of everything.
