You have to plan for this when your coming in.  Make sure you stop at
the earliest point in your pit (i.e. right as you get to your fuel
man.) This should leave you plenty of room to exit even with the small
range of wheel lock.  BTW I really like this aspect of the game.  I
don't know if Papyrus designed it like this, but it is very realistic.
I mean you always hear about drivers blocking other drivers in the
pits to gain track position on them.  So watch out or the computer
cars will get a position on you.

The best thing to do is buy a control that allows you to race with 12
degrees or more lock.  One comes to mine the TSW one hell of a good
product.

Never have this problem with my TSW always in and out without a
problem.

I've had this same problem and have tried the approach you recommend, but I
seem to remember at least one track (Richmond?) where with the lock set
where I wanted it (probably 6-7 degrees), I couldn't get out no matter how
far back I stopped.

Once I tried turning out just as I came into my pit (which works, BTW) and
unintentionally left just enough of my nose sticking out to block the line
of cars behind me waiting to enter the pits. The rest of the field ended up
going down a lap. Sure made winning that race a lot easier. ;)
