NASCAR Pit Stops

by tyler philip juck » Tue, 18 Apr 1995 04:00:00

Every time I enter the pits, the crew seems to just sit there and not do
anything.  Is there something I'm not doing that I should when it comes
to pitting?  Any pitting secrets?  Or does the work take place instantly?

Thanks for any help.

The work does not take place instantly.

You must pit within your assigned pit stall. Once that happens, a timer (in
red) will appear in the upper right corner. (You will also hear the jack,
air wrenches, etc.) Once the desired work is completed, a crew member will
"thump" your car, and the timer will turn green, indicating you are free
to drive out of the pits and rejoin the race. (Be mindful of the pit-lane
speed limit...)

There is no animation of your pit crew; they just sit there, but the work
is actually going on...

NASCAR Pit Stops

In regard to pit stops in NASCAR, you may be having the same problem
that I was having, and it isn't because the crew doesn't have any
animation during the stop.  For the first few races, when I would try
to pit to change tires, etc., I would go into the pit and stop in my
stall and wait.  And wait.  And wait.  And then some kind soul on this
group told me to tap my brakes while I was in my stall.  Fixed the
problem for me...  Hope this helps...
