new momo wheel and racer probs.

by Verne » Mon, 15 Sep 2003 07:37:55

So I decided today to buy a new wheel.........the momo racing wheel by
Logitech. Cool wheel....my first FF wheel. Anyway, I also decided to
download Racer 0.5.0 final. Well...it workr pretty good. Problem is I have
to use "Logitech wingman formula force (combined,ff). It only allows me to
use the paddles. I prefer to use the stick. Any ideas on that ??
Also........when I use the "profiler" that comes with the wheel..it detects
Racer as "Pod racer" and any attempts at changing the assignments yeilds
choices that are NOT for this game. Things like boost, lift..WTF ?!?!
Anyway...thanks for any ideas.

I forgot to mention.......whenever I flip at all...the car gains momentum in
the spin.....becomes real weird and settles...........high above the track
and then slowly comes down to earth only to go THROUGH the track into some
blue zone and sits there.      ummmmmm, not normal.

That's pretty normal for Racer 0.5.0 ;)  It's the buggy and/or unfinished
collision detection that does this.

If you wan't to use the stick you'll have to make your own controlset file
(or edit an existing one). They are located in data/ctrlsets directory.
Probably someone has already made a controlset for the new Momo. You could
do a search at the Racer forum (at racesimcentral.com)

Nevermind the Pod Racer thingy, just make a new profile for Racer. That's a
Wingman profiler issue... it detects "racer.exe" and associates it with some
game called Pod Racer.

There's a tutorial on http://www.racer.nl/tutorial/ctrlset.htm
The latest Racer v0.5.2 beta's have a controller setup screen, which
hopefully deals with most controllers in a simple way.

Funny how the MOMO wheels keeps coming back in this way.
