FF Settings for N4?

FF Settings for N4?

by chainbreake » Mon, 12 Feb 2001 23:25:13

I've played with the FF settings for my LWFF Wheel (original) since getting
the sim, and I've yet to be satisfied with any of the results.

Does anybody have any settings or tweaks that they're happy with that they'd
be willing to share?

Not really satisfied with the FF in N4  was not with N3 either.I
guess I'm spoiled with GPL FF. I find if I shut down the FF it
gives me a big boost in FPS as it frees up cpu cycles and I
tend to like the "feel" better at least for now. I figure with the
poor (IMO) FF I'm not missing much by disabling it.

I think the FF in n4 is pretty good, and the problem with comparing it to
GPL is not realistic because of the weight of the vehicles.  N4 cars won't
react as well as GPL simply because of the massive weight difference....

Point taken, but being that the cars in N4 are heavier that should transfer
to a feel of weight in the corners (Steering wheel resistance) more so then
GPL, which in my opinion it don't. Of course this proberly is refected by
what make
of wheel  one is using and drivers for that wheel.

I also have a LWFF wheel and in GPL I can turn up the forces via the
core.ini file settings so that the game wrenches the wheel out of my hands.
In N4 I haven't found any settings other than the controller screen and with
everything maxed out I can just barely feel the forces. Why didn't they just
stick with the settings in the core.ini like in GPL?

I think in's pretty good too, but there isn't enough centering force at the
SuperSpeedways.

The wheel is WAY too loose around center at these tracks.

FF Settings for N4?

This might help somone with LWFF, that i found......

I almost lost FF in n3 for some reason. THen in N4, the FF was OK until i
created a LW profile for N4, then my FF was gone too. So i adjusted the FF
inside the lw profiler prg  and now FF is so strong that my arms get tired. Now
i adjust the ff setting in the profiler prg in N3 and guess what, strong FF
reactions again.

I first tried to adjust the FF setting inside N4 with no luck at all.

It seems the profiler prg overrides any settings you make in a FF section

Just a brief note

I know what you mean (I think)-I'm having a devil of a time running
in traffic at those tracks, as the FF will all of a sudden 'let go' and I'll
either plow into the outside wall or I'll over-correct and end up spinning
me and the guy inside me out of the race...
Alas I am highly ignorant of the way you setup cars, so I have no
idea of how to solve this (if it is a physics problem and not a FF
problem).
