Hmmmm, another new sim slammed before its even released [GP3]

Yet again, *some* members of RAS see fit to totally demolish a new sim,
before it has even hit the shelves.

How many times have we seen this happen before? anyone remember the
panning the GPL *demo* got?

Lets have a sensible debate about the good and bad points of GP3 when it
has been released. The warez version is almost certainly *not* the
finished article (no matter what it says in any help/readme files!) And
a reasoned, relevant, articulated debate cannot therefore be held on its
merits or otherwise until it has been released, and sufficient time has
passed to see its full potential(or lack of potential), eg: at least a
couple of days after its release!

And yes, I *am* a GP2 fan, as well as being a GPL fan, a Nascar fan,
an ICR fan, a RC2000 fan, a Rally Masters fan, a TOCA2 fan, etc, etc.

But, I'll reserve my judgement on GP3, and any other new sim, until I've
seen the finished product and at least tried it for a couple of days,
you cannot make a detailed analysis of anything in a few moments
browsing!

Many people slammed GPL because it was too hard, but you don't really
get to appreciate its little nuances until you have at least mastered
the basics, and put some real time into the sim.

I suspect GP3 wll be similar in this respect....

I'm going to buy it. (GP3)  My local software store has a 7 day return policy.
So if I don't like, I can get a full refund as long as I return it before 7
days is out.
I'll probably keep it though like I have done with F1 2000 (which I use
for "hot laps").

If it had been a new sim. of the quality of Crammond's previous releases it
wouldn't have been slammed (well, there are always a few).

Since it is one of Crammond's previous high quality releases, people
expected more after 4 years.

Marc.

You're living in denial. Even if the warez-version is several weeks old,
the final version won't be massively different. Less bugs, probably yes,
but they won't be adding any big new features, and from what the
impression seems to be, much of the problem is that the game is still
mostly GP2. That won't change in the final version.

It seems to me that the prudent thing to do is wait a couple days
before drawing ANY solid conclusions.  Whether or not the warez copy is
close to or the same as the boxed release will not be known til an hour
or two after the first ones hit the street.

Mine is already ordered, but have to wait for transatlantic
delivery - probably at least a day later than many of you guys.  And, I
can hardly wait.

The thing is that nobody remembers such thing because the GPL demo was
received with great applause and praise, actually.  Deja.com exhibits the
facts.

Ok correction, you can learn some tracks in F1 2000 and race them in GP3, as
long as each sim has the appropriate track ;)
Is that better ? <G>

Absolutely! Even just the single car demo round Watkins Glen drummed up a
massive amount of e***ment for the game on RAS.

Unfortunately for GPL, one thing Geoff Crammond gets right is his
selection of Driver Aids. Even complete duffers can drive GP2/GP3. This
is emphatically not the case with GPL.

Add to that the modern F1 license and GP3 will outsell GPL by a massive
margin:-(

> You're living in denial.

Well, I prefer to think that I am open minded about GP3 *until* I've
seen it for myself, and then, and *only* then will I make a judgement on
it.

If it is crap, I will be happy to state that fact, along with all the
others already stating that, but only after seeing the final released
version.
