How well does Soda run multiplayer on Kali??  I just bought the 13
buck full version but won't be able to run it til my Hercules comes in.
Does the IPX option work with Kali 95??

I have raced in SODA over Kali95 using SODA's IPX networking.  I also
tried a direct internet connection using TCP/IP, and was surprised that
the IPX/Kali method worked better than direct TCP/IP.  On Kali, the
frame rate was fine, but there was the usual warping.  Using TCP/IP,
frame rate was terrible for some reason.

Thanks for the replay EW.  That brings up another question....:)
do those tcp/ip programs like MTU and TWEAKDUN improve game connections via
tcp/ip?  I have read in the Kali Faq that MTU can slow down kali, but what
about a straight tcp/ip connection...would MTU improve or hurt a game??

Since this is the first I've heard of MTU and TWEAKDUN, I don't have an
answer for this.  Anyone else?

TweakDUN allows you to change a variety of settings within Dial-Up
Networking which should increase your throughput. I've changed mine
quite extensively and it does result in better and faster connects
while using the dial-up from home.

Cheers!

More technically correct, it allows you to trade-off latency for
bandwidth. Bandwidth is almost totally irrelevant for the client side
of a racing game, but latency is king... Decreasing MTU on the link
will decrease latency and bandwidth; the lower latency is a bigger win
than the lower bandwidth is a loss.

Long downloads may get slightly longer with MTU set to 296 (the
minimum), but the improvement in racing experience is worth it...

Sounds great!  Where do I get this TweakDUN?

Alternatively, there is a very nice utility called MTUSpeed available
from http://www.mjs.u-net.com/
