Why is it silly ? It's true. What do you know about what I know about
Ubisoft's 2000 line of product ? Wow btw that last sentence was weak, my
bad. Another time, the POD Game engine can't successfully model an accurate
representation of rally racing to please the hard-core simracing market.
From what I say, it's a fact.
As you said and it's true, it was one of the best arcade racer of the time
(with Screamers2 IMHO), but that doesn't mean it can model and simulate in
an accurate way a Rally car or F1 car. Gp2 is IMHO superior in almost all
aspects of modern Formula 1 compared to MGPRS2. Of course it doesn't have
hardware 3d rendering, but that's it's only inferiority compared to
Ubisoft's
Game engine - GP2 wins easily.
Track accuracy and details - Anybody can win against the poor limitation of
the Ubisoft track modeling and game engine, who can only do up/down
elevation, no banking or camber.
Sounds - Gp2 wins easily
AI - Gp2 wins, just look at the scripted AI in MGPRS2, especially when it
comes to lapping cars and the Blue flag issues.
Feeling - Gp2 wins hand-down. The feeling is almost impossible to find in
MGPRS2. In Gp2 you clearly feel behind a wheel of a Formula 1, with it's
pure power and rage.
Graphics - Ok Ubi's title win, but Gp2 does an incredible job with it's
non-3d rendering.
Gameplay - Gp2 has an incredible depth gameplay, you can choose much more
options than in MGPRS2.
And the whole third-party utilities clearly make GP2 the superior modern F1
sim. You can download thousands of tracks, cars, carsets, utilities,
***pits, etc.. You can't download most of that for Ubisoft's title. Btw
how come they never fixed sound in the replay in MGPRS2 when it works in
F1RS ? What is it really that hard to do ?
The only fact that we are comparing a 1995 simulation to a 1998 simulation
really shows you the whole point ;-)
