F1GP frame rate help !

by Gregory Descho » Sun, 14 Jan 1996 04:00:00

I am trying to run F1GP from .... a Power mac with softwindows!
To my surprise, it is almost playable ( at the lowest frame rate of
course), which is already really cool for an emulation of a PC ! Anyway,
it becomes quite slow whenever there are cars on the track, i.e. the
qualifying is decent, but the races are very slow. Does anybody know of a
way to reduce the processor's workload ? I mean something like getting rid
of the background (trees, houses, buildings), or of the track texture
(cool but probably CPU intensive), or any other trick to accelerate GP ?
Thanks in advance.

(I know...I could buy an old DX2 like I have at work, but just for running
GP, it's a little overkill!)

'T' toggles the track texture - this will make most difference.
'D' alters the detail level (trees, etc).

Pressing Alt-D should recuce trackside scenery, and then pressing it again should get rid
of trackside scenery. Hope this helps.

Otherwise, buy a Pentium, wait for GP2 to come out and wait for your head to explode with
amazement! I know I am!

If I remember well, yo ucan press ALT-D to cycle thru the detail levels.
Pressing 'T' will toggle the track details. Pressing 'O' will show you CPU
occupancy.
