I have AMD K6-2 300 Mhz, 64MB RAM, WIN98 and fast 2D video card but when I
try to run the GPL demo I get about 0.3 fps...I see my car in the middle of
the track, and when the next frame appears, I'm in the wall! Amazing, how
can it be so slow! I don't have 3D card but I don't think that it would help
much! Can anyone help me?

WIN98 is the problem in GPL demo. See the FAQ at

I have amd k6-2 300, 128 mb ram, win98, cheap 2d card, voodoo2 8 mb and it
is 36 fps when I'm alone on the track, 10 fps at the start of the race with
19 opponents. So I gues 3d card helps, a lot!
Buy rendition v220 card or voodoo 2 based card.

Ups, I didn't notice you are still running that demo, it is a problem with
the w98 but there is a way around! Still with no 3d card it wouldn't help
much ( maybe a jump from 0.3 fps to 3 fps )

I don't know if there is a fix, but the demo doesn't run under Win98..

I have a p2-400, and when I first installed and tried to run everything on
with direct3d only, I got only 10 fps. With the Voodoo 2, I got 35 fps.

two things, win ninetyhate doesn't like the demo but the full release will
run fine in 98, you need a 3d card, let me repeat that, you need a 3d card.
if optimium performance in papy sims is your concern get an 8 meg thriller,
if you play a lot of differnet games get a voodoo2 8 meg minumum.

Get a 3DFX NOW!! Running a PII300 and 3DFX2, I manage 1024x768 with no
drop in frame except at the start.
