GPL Dumps Back To Desktop

by UMAN » Mon, 26 Oct 1998 03:00:00

My system is a P-133, 48Megs, Win 98, DirectX 6.0, 4 Meg S3 Virge, 4 Meg
Diamond Monster 3D.

When I start GPL, The light brown Sierra logo screen is shown for a few
seconds (about 10) while the drive runs, then I get dumped back to the
Desktop & GPL is shutdown (not in memory or running).  This happens with the
app.ini set to softdll.dll.   If I try to change the app.ini setting to
rast3dfx.dll, The 3DFX Logo comes up at the start, the light brown Sierra
logo screen again, then I get an error dialog from windows:

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.

If I click on the details button I get:

GPL caused a divide error in module GPL.EXE at 0177:004de575.

I realize that most of this won't mean jack to a lot of people, but I was
hoping someone else had a same or similar problem and had found a fix for
this.  Realize that I have never gotten this program to run long enough to
get to the option menu and select the graphics driver internally.  Any help
appreciated.
