F1-2001 put up or shut up

by nos.. » Sun, 11 Nov 2001 10:25:43

If anyone in the united states (new york tri-state area)  can
configure F1 2001 for me I'll pay them (Email"

re-installing Win2k.

system:
Dell demensions  4100
Win 2000 SP2
933 PIII
G-Force MX
256mg/ram
Logitech Momo Force.

F1-2000CS runs fine on my system.   But F1 2001 runs like crap. The
gas pedals aren't working, the steering is delayed, and I get a crappy
framerate.    I tried windowed mode=1.  The frame rate was okay using
"windowed mode = 1",  but the game runs in a very small window.  The
gas pedals still didn't work.   I have just downloaded DirectX 8.1,
Nvida 20.90 (currently using 2.1.8.8), Logitech beta 5.1.  I am also
going to re-install the game.  What else is can I  do?

I have never had such a rough time getting any game to work. Wait a
minute, there was a game that was horrible out of the box, EA's
original F1-2000.   They did manage to fix the bugs with a patch. I
hope that they do the same for F1-2001.

P.S I'll bring the system to your location.

Thanks >> Tony

F1-2001 put up or shut up

by Joe Marque » Sun, 11 Nov 2001 14:17:32

I'm running the game fast and fine.  The control is superior even without
FF.

AMD 1600+
512 MB Ram
GF3 Ti 500 (22.40's)
Win XP Home (DX 8.1)
Logitech MOMO (latest beta 5)

I set the IN GAME wheel sensitivity to 50% and all dead zones at least 1%.
Out of game Wingman profiler I set the wheel sensitivity to 60% and dead
zone to 1%.  I  UNCHECK combined pedals.

I run desktop 1024 32-bit and the game 1024 32-bit. NO window mode.
Everything is silky smooth.  Mirrors work.  Steering very direct and
precise.  I get the same results with or withou FRAPS 1.5.  The benefit of
fraps is I see that I'm cruising at 40+ fps with a full field of cars an all
graphics high except for "other cars."

Hope this helps.

Disregard after doing what I mentioned the game is functional.   I
like it! Lack of Force Feedback sucks.

Why are you running Directx 8.1 ? That's beta...

what resolution is your Win2k desktop, and what resolution is your game.
I'm running P3 500Mhz, 256MB RAM, GeForce2 Ultra...

I'm running Win2k (SP2 and directx8.0a) on 1152x768 32bit and same
resolution the game. That worked fine with my 21.83 detonator. However
today I switched to 800x600 and things went crazy...1 frame per second...
I have other games to play with so I uninstalled F1-2001 until there is a patch...
but I could run the game on 1152x768 pretty well...

Peter

PS:  I wasn't running the game in windowed mode btw...

DX 8.1 isn't beta, it is part of Win XP.  It just hasn't been released yet
for older versions of Windows.

Joe,

He is running Windows 2000 and not WinXP....so there is not an official note
from Miscorosoft that for windows 2000 Directx8.1 is out...

I understand it's not officially out for Win 2000, however, it's out for XP
so it's not beta.  I suspect it's not "out" for Win 2000 so MS can entice
people to upgrade to XP ;-).

Bear in mind, boyz & girlz, MS isn't recommending 8.1 for W95 or W98, only
for ME & XP (diff for each OS); 95 & 98 users are encouraged to stick w.
8.0a.
