Help I have just reformatted my hard drive and I can't get GPL to install.It
say the cd is invalid contact vendor. Has anyone else had this problem. The
cd is a genuine English version. I'm using win 98se

Try cleaning the disk, and your CD drive.

I had the same problem, there is a fix for this somewhere but I can't
remember it, what I did was copy the entire content of the GPL CD to the
HD, GPL doesn't actually need to be "installed", then removed the write
protection on all the files and made a shortcut to gpl.exe on my
desktop, not too elegant but it worked :-)

I vaguely remember that GPL won't install if there are more than one
CD-drive. Try to disconnect the second CD-reader/writer and try again.

Check your settings for location (windows) match.

eg: mine are English British, and UK, and also GMT.

Thanks for the help disconnecting the second cd writer and rebooting did the
trick.

I have 2 CD-ROM drives, and GPL installs every time.
