NFS Underground - Frame freeze early in game

Hi

When running NFS Underground on a new circuit, I get sporadic frame freeze
during the first lap. After that, all seems well.
It happens irrepective of different graphic option settings.
Anybody get the same problem? Any advice please?

I have the following spec...
Asus A7V333 Motherboard  1gb mem
PNY FX 5950 Ultra with nvidia 61.77 drivers
