This game better than Midnight Club 2? Sure looks to be a great gfs
*** game just kinda wondering if there is any meat to the game. Sure
hope the car handling and physics are better than what the demo showed.
Don't see any area to tweek handling or car control, hmmm.  Also, I
don't see a***pit view in the demo...not cool.

Usually what makes or breaks any driving game is the car physics. And they
suck big time, at least that's the word on NFSU. I couldn't bring myself to
install the demo, after reading some of the comments. Seems like a waste of
time. Tip: check out Mercedes Benz Racing World, very NFS-like and the cars
are fun to drive (a lot of sliding going on in this game).

It will probably suck anyway taking into acount that it's a wiggermobile
simulator LOL.

Ever since Porsche unleashed,  the series has gone downhill fast.

I actually liked it. It's good for an arcade game, and it's not trying to be
anything else. The drag racing is refreshing and different, the circuit
racing is a bit run of the mill, but it's still ok, fun to hit the NOS in
(just for the visual effect). I thought it would be a complete dud, but
after cracking out the gamepad (i plan to buy it on the ps2... but i tried
the pc demo first), i started to love the game as a whole. While the
physics, or the cars (BLING!), aren't exactly my cup-o-tea, the whole
package is fast-paced, finger twitching fun, backed up with fairly cool
music, funky menu's, and creative gameplay (havent seen something as
creative as the drag racing in aaaages in an arcade racer).

I'm normally the first person to complain about physics in racing games
(more importantly, the handling model, which includes controller factors),
but i can handle arcade if it's done well. For instance:

Arcade being arcade: Burnout 2. Great fun, easy to drive with the gamepad.
NFS:U fits here too, good with the gamepad, and i don't expect any more of
it. Daft slides, neon lights, and chicks waving their arms around... all
without the inhibitions of a half arsed sim tyre model, or any physics to
ruin the fun.

Arcade trying sim: Toca race driver. Impossible to drive with the gamepad..
or the wheel. Horrible feel, really lets down the great visuals, sounds, and
damage model. It's a useless game, and a useless sim, kinda like CMR 3.

V-Rally 3. Oh dear god... fishtails of doom. The worst handling model i've
felt since i drove STCC (STCC has been released several times with different
graphics, namely: rally masters, stcc2, v8 challenge, and rallisport
challenge).

So all in all, if the handling fits the purpose, it's fine. NFS:U is
definitely one of the better handling NFS's, and although it doesnt compare
with NFS:PU for simminess, i think it's right up there with it as a whole.
In fact, with the online support, i think i may be playing it more than i
did PU.

and not the game-play ? Great music and sound can make a great game
a more 'immersive' and truly-memorable experience. It cannot help a
game-play turkey.

For adrenaline-pumping arcade fun in vehicles.... have you tried
Midnight Club 2 ? From the designers of GTA3/Vice City.

Just to be clear ... it's from the PUBLISHER of GTA ... completely
different developer.

oops, sorry............... in-house development by Rockstar.........

Nevertheless, still a great racing-game experience that doesn't
take itself too seriously..........

They are, it is "Rockstar San Diego", formerly known as Angel Studios.

GTA3, on the other hand, is developed on the other side of the planet,
in a Rockstar office (formerly "DMA") in Scotland.

Anyone know if it supports multiple controllers?  I have a wheel and
separate pedal unit.....

I agree, the draft and sliding races are good fresh ideas that work
really well. I miss a***pit view, but on the other hand, an arcade
racer like this is better suited for outside views.
Also there are no replays I think?
I love the overal presentation (I read John Landis even directed the
commercial for NFS:U) and all the car modifying and upgrading options
are excellent.

Great game!

Me too, and I can't get the controllers to work properly in the game, it
doesn't save any settings when you exit, and the intro/exit sequence is
frustratingly long.  Anyone know how to fix this stuff?
