Those movies of Greg Moore's crash and Bandini's crash are really
horrible too see... damn, you even see Bandini getting pulled out of
the car, while still alive...

Bandini was 100% DEAD before his body was removed from the Ferrari.
Get a copy of Louis Stanley's recent book (can't think of the name of it
now): it includes an horrific photo of Bandini's corpse in the car.

Indeed, he died three days later after the crash in the hospital.
Here's the whole story:

Guys, I saw the pic Bruce mentioned, more like glanced at it, and I couldn't
sleep that night. Makes me sick to think of it; one reason I am happy I
wasn't following the racing scene back then. Now, get off the "real fiction"
yukky stuff (like they had to show a poor fellow killing himself in a
Snowboard race on the news last weekend, I mean, what the f*** is the news
about that?!?!),and go do something sensible, like watch a good movie :-)
Like the Matrix, LOL, try and see the similarity to our GPL/simming world.

Bruce,
Is the book you're talking about the following?:

Stanley, Louis T.
_Strictly off the record: Grand Prix controversy and
intrigue._
London: Salamander, 1999.

        Do you recommend the book?

Thanks,
Michael G. Lowery

The one of Paletti being killed in Canada made me sicker. Both were bad but
the one from 82 showed more. If you watch how frantic Peroni was and how he
grabs a marshal and pushes him to the car. The guy was putting out the fire
at the side of the road! Another marshal, the one trying to get Paletti out
of the car had his foot on fire the whole time. Very distressing.

Yeah, I remember that accident very well (it was from the time I started to
follow F1), but Paletti died on impact (Broke his neck). Bandini burned to
death, screaming. At least we don't get those type of horrible accidents
where the drivers suffer long these days.

Yes as you can see in the video he never moved an inch. Not the kind of
thing anyone really wants to see.

I cant understand the mentality behind having footage of fatal crashes. It
seems sick to me. Espesially the way the is a huge link for sennas crash,
ive come across this stuff before and will never knowingly watch any crash
that cost a life.

Stanley was instrumental in setting up the GP Medical Centre, a mobile
facility that attended every GP and major race in Britain and Europe and
continues this day in a modified format.
The photograph in his book is part of the chapter on the accidents that
Louis actually attended and almost every picture in the book was taken by
him.
According to the details within, Bandini was DOA.

Yes, Michael. That's the book and for those interested in that era, and BRM
in particular, it is an excellent read.  Louis (pronounced 'Lewis', not
'Loo-ee'...as he pointed out to a well-known driver once!) pulls no punches
either....there are some controversial statements included.

As a point of interest, BRMs greatest successes came when Louis Stanley was
at the helm.
