I've seen various posts on here over the last few months.  Thought I'd add a
few.

1) 2 days of qualifying.
2) Some empty seats for Busch races at the bigger tracks.
3) Different pace cars for different races.
4) Ability to have 50 or so cars attempt to qualify and only have 43 make
it.
5) Provisionals.

Well, with this I would be going home early quite a bit!  It would be
very realistic though!  I guess I'am just an aweful qualifier!  I'am
usually pretty consistant in practices (usually in the lower half of
the top 10 fast times or just below at, 100% AI).  I've been
especially aweful at Texas lately, and C***te is my favorite track!
(it must be the differnet banking or something!)

I believe both #4 and #5 were supposed to be in N2 but were dropped during
devlopment. #1 would be a good and realistic addition, but #s 2 and 3 are
bascially eyecandy...the stands are the last thing I look at when driving and
it's not too often I get to follow the pace car around the track.

im sure this has already been said, but double file restarts with lapped cars on
inside is a must. just remember though,in the minds of the people at sierra,if
they make the perfect and exact game then thats it. whats the sense of making a
nascar4 or 5 or so on.

The AI in N3 will be much improved, so perhaps double file restarts will
be possible (the current AI can't handle it).

Speaking of NASCAR 3, is there a page with any info game?  I know it's using
the physics model from Grand Prix Legends, which should make for some very
spectacular crashes.  I had a few thoughts about it though

1) I hope that debris will effect other cars.  Driving over small debris
should damage the tires, etc, while larger parts obviously cause more
damage.  Dont know how hard this would be to model though

2) A track designer... this would probably be to complex to put into the
game, but it sure would be cool.

What I'd like to have in Nascar 3 is to be warned that one of the cars
in front of me is going to pit soon. This would be really useful on the
short tracks, where there's little space to slow down to enter the pits.

I think this is what happens in reality (i.e., team A's spotter tells
team B's spotter that they're going to pit the following lap, so that
team B's car doesn't rear-end team A's car because it slowed down to
enter the pits).

Am I the only one who'd like to see this in the game?

Actually the drivers have a hand signalling routine to let other drivers
know they are heading to the pits or that there is trouble ahead and
they are slowing down.  They also gesture to tell a driver that they are
not going to hold them up and want them to pass low or high.  There is
also a gesture they use at Dega and Daytona when they want a driver to
"hook-up" with them.

All Papy needs to do is give the AI a 3D***pit like the human driver.
I understand that there will be hand gestures (rude and polite) in GPL
for the humans.  Will the AI have some also?

% Am I the only one who'd like to see this in the game?

I don't think so, this has been discussed in the past.

Either a 3D***pit, or set it up like the flags in N1/N2, with an
animated image at the top of the screen, possibly with a car number
indication next to it (in case you're, say, at Vegas and following
guys running three wide and need to know who's signalling).

I know that NASCAR doesn't allow Papy to show cars on fire (resulting
in some oddities like a car simply pulling into the pits and dropping
out, with no visible problems, only to be listed as being out due to a
fire); but does this prohibition extend to smoking cars?  I don't mean
this for fires, though...

I'm thinking of the suggestion someone had to make it so cars could
lay down oil when they blow the engine.  If that's the case, though,
I'd like some warning first.  Usually, when an engine lets go, the car
starts smoking first, and when it DOES finally blow, it emits a huge
amount of smoke.  I'd like to see Papy include that, if they make it
so the cars CAN lay down oil.  I'd like the advance warning before I
hit the oil.  Plus, some added spotter messages for this would be
good... "The twenty-four car just blew up in turn three, watch for oil
low!",  "The six car's smokin' on the back stretch, be careful!", and
the like...

You're right. If ever the product got to the point where it was a
*perfect* simulation of the sport and nothing in the sport changed
over time, there *wouldn't* be any point in releasing another
one. After all, what you've already got it perfect... Why would anyone
pay another nickel when the next one couldn't possibly be any more
perfect?

Ain't something to lose any sleep over though; it's far from
*perfect*... :-)

I think #4 & #5 are a great idea. You should be able to miss the race if
you cant qualify well and dont have the ability to take a provisional.
Siera is calling this a simulation, not just a game, so make it one.
1)How about other break downs occuring to the car.(over heating,
ignition box failure, dropping a piston, cutting down a tire)
2)Money awarded for leading at 1/2 way as well as overall winnings
3)double file restarts.
4)An AI that dosn't allow a single car to pull away from others at
Talladaga while using restricter plates
And a little more eye candy could be an actual winners circle. Theres
not much hype when you win a race.

I whole heartedly agree here.  I think Papyrus didn't bother too much
with Talladega AI as the main AI engine is based around non-plate races.

That is one of the reasons for The CCG NASCAR2 AI Project.  Our latest
Talladega AI enhancement (version 2.0) comes close to keeping any one
car from leaving the pack.  While on occassion a lone car seems to leave
a drafting pack, it is the exception not the rule.  Where in Papyrus'
original AI, this was the rule.  Don't wait for N3, if you want to
experience restrictor plate racing, grab the CCG's Talladega AI now.
And a note to Papyrus, if you want to see how it can be done, download
this enhancement (along with the others) to see what type of AI driving
us hard-core simmers want to see.

% I would like to lengthen or shorten the spoiler/airdam to coincide
% with NASCAR's changes during the year.  Sure you can change the
% spoiler angle, but what about it's actual height?

Along these line, I too would like to see some more "flexability" in the
line of make "rules" modifications.  Also the ability to select
horsepower, etc. for modeling the difference between Cup cars and Busch
cars.  However, the more I think about it, it may be too complex to
create a totally fluid physics model where one can change the
areodynamics of the cars (i.e. spoiler height and front air dam height).
However, if they do model such changes as "taping" the grill, etc., the
physics model may be complex enough to allow these types of
modifications.
