How about making it so the drivers have different levels of talent at
different tracks.  I mean lets face it.  Earnhardt always runs up front at
Daytona no matter what, even if he doesn't win, but on road courses, he
isn't always top notch.  Sterling Marlin has only done good at
superspeedways, and Rusty Wallace is awesome on short tracks.  I propose
that you assign each track a catagory.  Superspeedway, short track, Road
course, 1.5 Mile speedways, etc.  Each driver has different characteristics
in each group.  This would not hurt framerate, you load driver
characteristics before each track is run.

Excellent idea. Hope Papy sees your post and gives it consideration.

This is exactly what YADR2 does.  It would also be nice to include the
extra level of randomization for qualifying - so the cars that qual up front
don't just take off and go.   It would be interesting to follow someone
through traffic.  This is the most useful feature of randomization IMHO.
Guys like Nemechek qualify well but don't usually stay there.

There is a driver randomizer (yadr2 or similar) that you can setup a driver's
ratings based on what kind of track you'll be running.  It works fairly well.
I think it's still on "the Pits" site.

The Pits has a utility called N2 starting grid that adjusts drivers skill
settings according to each REAL races finish, its great and makes a season
more reallistic

what is YADR2?  I agree though, Bobby Hamilton seems to qualify good as
well, but only once in a while does he do actually run up there.  How about
showing someone hit the wall in qualifying and have to take a provisional.
And how about an easy way to edit surface grip for each track, not the
cars?  I mean , Atlanta was just repaved and Bodine does 196!  If all the
cars had the potential to do this lap, including me, it would add realism.
What I would like to see hear is that if someone goes out in the real world
and sets a new record in qualifying, you can change it in the game, and if
you run at 100% difficulty, that is what your pole speed is going to be,
give or take depending on weather.  Wouldn't we all like to see these
features in N3?  They are all possible, and not taxing on cpu time either.

And I must say that my experience with YADR2 was great!  I loved having
that extra bit of unknown thrown into each race.
