Question

The only game I really ever play is N2 and currently have a s3 verge Diamond
video card.
I want to get a rendition card to play N2.  Can I go with the older cards
(v1000 series) since you can find them for $90 or so new.  Or should I go
with the newer V2000 series cards.  If I should go with the newer cards, do
I get V2200 or V2100 (Stealth II)?  I don't want to spend the extra money if
it is not going to make that much of a difference. Any help would be
appreciated

Get a v2200 card ! It has better direct 3d performance for other games too
. You would be a fool to not buy the newest chipset ( aka : v2100 or v2200
) or you get a voodoo 2 & use the 3dfx patch !

 In my opinion......If you enjoy N2 now....going to a rendition card is
well worth the money. The increased speed and graphic quality is
noticeable.
As for the V1000 or V2000..........I have both and I noticed an improvement
going with the V2000. Can't really tell you if the V2200 is a better choice
over the Stealth which is what I have. But....you can find the Stealth at a
price that is close or the same as you are talking for the V1000. Some
people are claiming some problem with the V2000's running N2.......but I
have not had any problems getting it to work on my system. At first I could
only run N2 under Win95...But after using the Dosfix program..(can find
this at.......www.Bjorn3d.com ) I'm running in dos without problems. (need
the dosfix because the game looks for a V1000 card and when it can't find
it....refuses to start.  The dosfix corrects this.) I see a slight
improvement in running it in dos over win. (N2 IS a Dos game)

Is there a site where I could view Rendition screen shots? I've heard so
much about this card, I'd like to see the graphic quality compared to my
mystique...or even my MOnster 3D. I have the 3dfx patch and its working
fine.

Have Stealth II and it helped a lot; still not ecstatic with N2 frame
rates, which is all I do, also.  Don't know about the others.  Call Papyrus
support until you get someone who REALLY knows the video cards!
