Is Papy working on anything else, I'm not sure they can top N4 and GPL.

Sure they can top it:

1. Give us those addons -- Trucks, GN, Legends.
2. We need more short tracks and road courses:  Maybe a CASCAR addon.
You would get Mosport, 3-Rivers (equivalent english name for the french
track), Edmonton as new road courses.  Plus lots of great short tracks.
3. Basically, make anything with the new physics engine from N4 with
internet play and I'll buy it :-)

The last I heard the next project is...
"an open wheel sim"
Exactly what kind of open wheel was not mentioned.

Another year goes by, computers get faster, graphics are faster and on
and on and on... Sure theres more they can do. Even to Nascar Racing.

Rumor has it they are doing an open wheel; CART, I'd guess.

Before they start that project, I really with they'd consider a GPL
update.
With relatively little effort, they could tweak GPL in several ways:

Whip up a carset for another year. (The Turbo Era wins most polls)
Improve the sound engine.  (WSC preview sounds blow everything else
into the weeds)
Tweak the physics. (Dyanmic camber, etc, etc, etc.)
Better network collision detection and resolution.
Increase max cars for LAN multiplayer.
Add the 'missing' cars / teams from '67.
        ETC.......

I guess we can dream.

Add appropriate pit stop capability--since that is the only glaring omission
from the "simulation" part of the title.

I second that... A CASCAR fan... cool ;) Mosport would be possible
(GPL), Trois-Rivires would be great (not mentionning all those CASCAR
short tracks). Edmonton: is that the western airport track?

It's the inner-city airport track.  I'm not sure of the western-ness of
it, but it's probably the same one you're thinking of.  It's definitely
not at the Edmonton International airport.  Speedvision televised the
Edmonton race last year and it was a blast to watch :)  I recommend
watching Speedvisions' coverage of CASCAR this year for anyone who
haven't seen them.
