Papyrus Done?

NOBODY is doing a CART sim -- Midway has a LOCK on the CART license.
Even though the Midway license uses the words "Fantasy-style," which
leaves a HUGE loophole for someone else to develop simultaneous CART
sims, it's not going to happen -- the CART management people don't
understand the difference between "fantasy" and "sim," and as far as
finding loopholes, I don't think they could find their way out of a
phone booth even with the help of a chauffer and a seeing-eye dog
these days.

Also, one of Papy's competitors has stated that neither CART nor the
IRL has any kind of fan base that would generate sales anywhere near
what an F1 or NASCAR title could generate.  No percieved market, no
interest in the product.  This would be true for Papy, too, I'm sure,
especially after getting burned due to lack of interest with GPL.

Expect nothing more than more NASCAR from Papy at any point in the
near future.

No not really!

Testify, brother! N4's got awesome physics, but driving around the ovals
online with no Pit Strategy needed will eventually get old. Maybe Papyrus
will add the accelerated wear option mentioned on the Sierra forum, but it
will probably have to be a 3rd party job given Papy's purist philosophy.
OTOH, racing 20 laps on Sierra with the wreckers and rookies can be hoot
sometimes!

It would be hard for Papyrus to develop a game that could actually sell
fewer copies than GPL, but a USAC sprint car game would just about do it.

We've been through this before.  There is not a single shred of evidence
that Midway has an exclusive license.

The Edmonton track is at the municipal airport. They claim  it is the only
race with aircraft (mostly light planes) using the same field during the
race.

And yet there is not one word of any other company even attempting to
produce a CART sim.  Do you think the CART Heat and Cart 2001 patches would
be unchallenged if some company was readying it's own retail version?????

>I second that... A CASCAR fan... cool ;)

We'll never see a CASCAR sim seriously.  Canada is demographically just as
big as a large US state.  Be sure that Papyrus is aiming at something much
more better and more known ;-)

Anybody has a link to the 747 airplane incident during a Karting race on a
abandoned airport back in the early 90's?  That was quite a story.  The
plane had to do an emergency landing near Winnipeg and the only place
possible was an old landing strip, which was holding a Karting event at that
moment.

You do not know about that.  Nobody knows, you only assume.  You don't want
to go there *again*, John?

Another time, you don't know! We've never, ever had a word from CART about
that.  Papyrus still has their CART licensing until the end of 2001 IIRC.

Well a CASCAR sim would be even worse ;-)

The first thing that pops to my mind is "What is CASCAR?"  So I'd have to
agree with you on this one.  Maybe Papyrus could develop WSC (World Sprint
Cars) and have it be an open sim where you can add your own CASCAR vehicles!

Cascar is the Canadien version of Nascar.  They run cars that are closer
to real world dimensions but still purpose built Ford's and Chevy's and
Dodges.  btw..Dodge was racing it's Avenger Model up North in the Cascar
Series at least two year before they made thier famous 'Return to Racing' at
Daytona.

Maybe not a USAC game but Ratbag did pretty good with DTR and Outlaw sprint games.

You can't make pit stops online?
