It is the windows version. I was helping a friend get it going and it
sucks. The DOS version (which is included) is much more reliable.
If I remember correctly the problem was that the controls could not
be assigned properly using the W95 version.

CART also includes the upgrades for the Verite chips, right?

I dl'd the icr2win file and it worked fine with my CH FS Pro (now CH F16 CS)
and Pro Pedals combo.  Didn't try it with my (ex) GP1 wheel.  One thing I
liked about it was that you could access all the car setup stuff without
having to navigate through as many screens.  Ditto with going directly to a
race without having to pass practice and qualifying.  I suppose there is some
framerate hit, but on faster machines, not too big a hit?  Be that as it may,
since upgrading my system and reloading ICR2, I too have stuck with the DOS
version, and the Indianapolis SVGA patch (can Indy be loaded in the Win
version?).

Greg left out the Rendition version.  CART RACING has patched versions of
the original dos, the Win95 and the Rendition sims.  If you choose setup,
the dang thing will try to install all three, so I recomend going into the
Rendtion dir. to install from there.   There are a few differences, like
some color palette issues, but CART Racing's full 3d (well 5 tracks...) more
than makes up for it.

Will the V2DOSFIX program work to allow ICR2 Rendition to work on
a V2100 board?  I'm guessing that I'll have to plop down the $15
to get the Rendition version even though I already have the older
IRC2.  I've been unable to find any reference to a Rendition patch
for previous owners or anything, at leat.

At first I was thinkin', nah, I can live without it, but I just
noticed how I can run fantastic frame rates with all details on
even with just a P100 in NASCAR 2 with renddma, and I only get
that kind of frame rate with all details off with standard ICR2 ...

Ron,

I would get both...if for nothing else the repackaged sim has a nice
manual written by former Car & Driver editor Steve Smith, as well as
a $10 rebate from Sierra (at least I think it's still valid).

You can also test drive the 3d-version of ICR2 (well, sorta'), by
downloading the Rendition patch from The Sim Project's Patch section:

    http://www.simproject.com/

You'll also need the patch for the newer Rendition v2*k cards.  That
one isn't yet on the site, so perhaps one of these kind soles will
let you know where to get it (I think the address for it was posted
within the last couple days here in r.a.s.).

Cheers!

Marc
