Chris,
I waited to post to make sure you even read (not trolling)...
3 things to know about Geforce and NR2003.
I have the GF4 4600 128, a "faster" but older card, I found that the older
drivers are much much better for my card, Your milage may vary (seems Im
using the 43.x or 45.x drivers [[alas my brains memory sux I cant remember
for sure now...]]
So, Tweak to your pleasure of course... I get 96 frames racing online most
of the time, 45 at the pits starting a race in 34th position offline, using
pretty highres cars. Trucks for some reason is a bit less, but very usable.
1. # important# Go into the windows control panel applet, get to the
advanced options where you see the Nvidia Tab.
2 Find the "performance" area in opengl, set to better performance. also
in there, uncheck or set "Verticle Sync" to off.
3 set your desktop to 16 bit color, then launch the game, this will cause it
to re-examine the vid drivers, pick Open GL, 1024x768 options at 16 bit
color depth, then let it do that Analyzing thing.
4 In game options:
a: some parameters in game (optional) for better frame rates is to
shut off some eye candy, like some reflections...
b: reduce the drawing distance. I use 35% and hardly ever see (some
describe it as thing appearing out of nowhere, or being built in front of
you). I use draw 25 cars ahead (works best online anywho, as seldom are
there 25 guys directly ahead of you after the start, also since most online
fields are about 20 <G>...
c: use "SOME" instead off "all" trackside objects, and don't draw
the opponents pit crews (more valid if you race the BGN, or CTS mods, and
especially online...
Enjoy.
