Papyrus: Keep up the good work!

Papyrus seem to be getting an awful lot of stick on this newsgroup at
the moment and I just want to add my two cents (even though I'm
English!) - hey, that's what this newsgroup's here for isn't it?

To Papyrus:
I think you've done a great job with N2.  I've never enjoyed a racing
sim/game so much - and I loved ICR2.  And N1  And ICR1.  And I'm sure I
would have loved Indy 500 if I'd had a PC back then.
I have already had my money's worth out of this product (including 3D
Blaster price) and I know it'll be a LONG time before it gathers dust on
the shelf.  I played N1 right up until N2 came out (sometimes go back
to it) and have no doubt that I'll play N2 until N3.  -Thats- value for
money.
No one else IMHO comes close to balancing true life acuracy and gameplay
in the way you do.  I -admire- GP2 for it's physics model, but I just
don't -enjoy- it, and believe me, I've wanted and tried to.
A lot of people around here seem to take you for granted.  I know that
if I was in your shoes I'd have given up on this newsgroup long ago.
But no, you keep on coming back for more punishment and manage to stay
calm through it all.  I find it amazing.  You (and Microprose) know as
well as I do that the people who attend this group are in the vast
minority of your customers and that if you didn't show, it would hardly
effect sales.  You're obvoiusly true simracing fans :)
Please take as much time with this N2 patch as you want, and let me tell
you that I will not expect perfection (because I know that it doesn't
exist).  However, I do have a small wish list:

1. Save Game between sessions.  I would prefer -not- to have a mid-race
save.

2. Tune Rendition code.  Martinsville, basically.

3. I can't mutiplay, but AFAIK you've got a problem there.

4. Er, thats it since Atlanta has been fixed (allegedly, not tried it
yet).

Any AI improvements are, of course, welcome and I do believe there are a
number of minor 'bugettes' which I haven't noticed (and I've put the
hours in).

Hell, maybe you shouldn't patch it at all 'cause if I spend any more
time on your game I might be facing a divorce!!

A HAPPY customer :)
(sounds like a love letter 'cause it is)

Finally, a comment on this newsgroup.
It seems that there are some angry people out there who take a
difference of opinion as a personal attack.  Fortunately, I haven't
received any flak but I've seen plenty of threads reduced to petty
arguments. It's all a bit sad, really. Has anyone seen
comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware.video lately?
If you hate N2, fine.  Just because you think GP2 is great and I think
it's a disappointment doesn't make me (or you) a complete toss pot.  I'm
not against free speech but please, don't attack me for having diferrent
tastes than you.  You don't know me.  We'd probably get on if we ever
met, after all we're both here.  Relax.

Clap, clap, clap, clap (crowd roaring, doing the wave, etc., etc.)

I couldn't have said this any better.

Yeah Jacques Villeneuve will this year rock the track with a victory.
Damon is out of chance winning races this year.  I have already my
tickets for this year (even with the anti-tabac maybe legislation) :(
BTW where are you from GSXRR ? It's not always that you found a Quebecer
on r.a.s.  I think that were 3-4 maximum.  I think you're 100% welcome
here like Mark also.  Good race at the Brickyard,

[===]   Go Rubens Barrichello, Jacques Villeneuve,

     | ! |   And all you that thinks that Jacques Villeneuve is
      |!|    from Canada, your right!! He's from St-Jean sur le
      |o|    Richelieu, 30 minutes from Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
