Papyrus: Please keep internal directinput joystick calibration routines

by Peter 'kayakr' Ashle » Sat, 07 Nov 1998 04:00:00

I have heard some people knocking papyrus for having to recalibrate
directinput joystick settings, but the microsoft joystick API seems to suck
with more than one joystick.  I never can seem to tell a game which input
device to use, and some games only look at id 1, etc.  Bottom line is I
would rather calibrate once in GPL, Nascar 3, etc. than mess around with
that game controllers craplet.

For example, every game I use seems to pick up on my joystick calibration
and work correctly, but then getting them to use the wheel is a major pain
in the but because the game requires it be id 1.  Then I loaded microsoft
combat simulator and it is using my wheel calibrations for some unknown
reason and I just kept falling out of the sky.  I'd rather delete my wheel
calibration from the craplet and just tell GPL about it, thanks.

Maybe when directx gets switching right, but right now it seems to be up to
the game and a total ***shoot.
