RAC Rally Championship Joystick Calibration Problem

RAC Rally Championship Joystick Calibration Problem

by Marc Collin » Wed, 19 Feb 1997 04:00:00

Great game!  I managed to get a used copy from a terrific local retailer
(Mediascape) here in Toronto as the game is not yet distributed in North
America.

Only one problem: the joystick calibration seems rather odd.  I get proper
left and right controls for steering, but the forward backward motion for
acceleration/brakes has all the variability compressed into the first few
millimetres of joystick travel.  It is next to impossible to apply normal
brakes--just slam them on full or nothing!

Of course, my joystick works properly on other applications (including GP2,
NFS SE, etc.).  Has anyone else using Rally Championship noticed this
problem, or is it just me??  I cannot find any reference to a sensitivity
adjustment (a la GP2) for the joystick, and I have re-calibrated it using
the menu option to calibrate several times.  I can make it worse by only
moving the joystick forward and back slightly during calibration, but the
best I can get is so jerky as to ruin control of the cars.

Any help or comments would be welcome.

Thanks.
