Joystick calibration - help please!

by PA » Sat, 01 Feb 1997 04:00:00

I have a Thrustmaster GP1 steering wheel "joystick", and can't find
help for my problem on TM's own web page.  I suspect that the problem
is Win95 anyway, cause my DOS software doesn't seem to suffer...

The problem is this:-

When I go to "calibrate" in the Joystick section of Control Panel, I
get the usual box with a smalll square in the middle, which moves to
the various extremes when the 'stick/wheel is moved around.

My first calibration effort was 100% ok - games worked fine, lots of
control, perfect centring etc.

But when I went back to W95 (having turned off in between) the
calibration seemed well off.  Going back to the "calibrate" screen, I
see that the "moving square" is positioned at the bottom left of the
"box", so that movements to left & right are ok, but movements up &
down are hardly registered.

I imagine that this is causing my "off centre" calibration in W95
games, but I don't know.  I figured the "reset" button in the joystick
section of Control Panel might assist, but said button is unhelpfully
shaded out, I can't use it at all.

Can anyone help?  How do I get my initial (very nice!)
configuration/calibration back?

Thanks in advance.

Paul.
