Anyone running a 1000MHz CPU and Voodoo2  with GPL ?

what kind of framerates do you get ?  (D3D is annoying me - thinking
of buying a V2 card for Glide)

A 1GHZ with a V2? That's like putting a Go kart engine in an F1 car.

Maybe he needs glide for other games as well. So long as I fly RB2 I'll
still need glide, for just one example.  A V2 alongside a gforce might be a
good solution for that.

If you get 70fps in GPL then your system is screwed, GPL is capped at 36  :)

The V2 is an add on card just to support glide titles, the primary card will
remain in place for all the other stuff.

To answer the original question, I had a V2 in a P2 333 which would give a
constant 36fps at 800 X 600 with about half detail and 19 AI, dropping to
mid 20's at the start. I think the slowdown was due to the CPU more than the
V2.
Don't expect to be able to run the V2 at anywhere near the resolutions you
can achieve with a GEForce2 and the D3D patch though, I think the max was
1024.

I use a have a Voodoo2 and Pentium 2 350 and I get maximum frame rates at
800x600 at all the original circuits 95% of the time.

To explain the confusion that I seem to have caused - I have a geforce
2MX, having previously owned a V3 2000 in the past. However now, I am
p____d off with wrong-coloured flags plus the distortion of trees and
barriers that occurs with the D3D patch (otherwise of course it is
very good). V2s too are very cheap in the Uk now.

To be more precise - how scaleable is the V2 with a fast CPU such as
mine ? Any chance of 36fps at 1024x768 (my monitor won't go higher)?

Actually, thinking back, I think a single Voodoo2 can only reach 800 X 600
comfortably in GPL, that may even be the maximum unless you use 2 in SLI.

If you really want 3dfx, why not get a V3 3000 or something alongside your
Geforce 2MX, and use that as your primary display adapter? The 2D of the
Voodoo 3 is probably better than the Geforce anyway, so you can consider the
Geforce to be the add on-card, especially for games (other than GPL). I
mean, you don't really want a single V2 when you have a 1Ghz CPU, it *will*
be a bottleneck in GPL (although it goes a long way).

Ian, yes you will get 36fps pretty much all the time at 800 x 600 in Glide.
To run 1024 x 768 in Glide with the V2 you need 2 Voodoo2's in SLI mode.

up to a V5)  I was able to run GPL at 1024 with the detail slider at about
halfway, as I recall.  (Some details were turned off, but not too many.)  Before
I added the 2nd V2, I believe that I was able to run GPL at 1024x768 -- but just
barely.  I kept it at 800x600 for the sake of maximizing the framerate.
