Nascar problems -- PLEASE HELP!!

by Scott M. Pett » Sun, 11 Feb 1996 04:00:00

My friend and I are running Nascar V1.21 on fast P133's with plenty of
RAM and both use the US Robotics Sportster Vi 28.8 modems with DSVD.
We've tried the following initialization strings:

AT&F1&K0&M0^M
AT&F2&K0&M0^M
AT&F&K0&M0^M

With all three strings we get the same results.  The game is unplayable
at Bristol -- a "phantom" major wreck occurs in every turn for the
caller (the game always looks fine for the answerer).  We tried reducing
the number of opponents to 5 (from 38) and no change.  We're both
running minimal graphics options in SVGA.  Running in VGA makes no
difference.  We also get random "jumps" at the other tracks where the
caller's car will suddenly be 10-100 yards ahead or behind of his "real"
position for an instant -- makes for really bad wrecks.

I have a US Robotics plain vanilla Sportster 28.8 at work and when I
call his computer or my home computer the same things happen.  The phone
company has checked our home lines and say they're OK.

PLEASE HELP US!!!  Is anyone able to modem race at Bristol without
phantom wrecks?  Does anyone use the USR Sportster 28.8 modems
successfully?  I love this game but this is VERY frustrating!

Pissed,

Scott

This happened to me before at taladega, solution was for both of us to
reload Nascar,  it will overwrite any bad files and will keep your stg's
intact
