seperate to combined pedals, must you reboot and recalibrate everytime?

In replying to another post it reminded me of a most irittating thing. If
you have a thrustmaster wheel  with the option of having the pedals set to
either combined ( for Nascar2 ) or seperate ( for GPL ) it seems that you
must shut off your computer then switch the pedal box then reboot and
recalibrate. There must be a way you can switch form seperate to combined
without having to do this, anybody have an idea? I would like to be able to
be able to close one sim then open another and go!  Another wish would be
to be able to save different calibrations for different people or whatever
reason in a sim. An example of this is GPL where if I go play N2 and then
open GPL I have to calibrate to an unknown value or keep written notes, not
to mention if I want to try a different amount of wheel lock I again need
to keep written notes. Seems to me you should be able to save calibrations
just like you save a car setup. Well Eric?

They tell you to not unplug your controller with the computer on but I have
been switching controllers with a regular data switch box and flipping
switches for pedal single or dual axis for two years and my Soundblaster 32
game port is still working fine.
W95 controller setup is terrible. It should keep the setups for you but I
have had to click 'remove' and then click 'add' to switch between
controllers.

There is no need to shutdown your compter to switch between the two
modes.  While there is a very slim chance that some "spike" could affect
your game card by doing so, it is extremely rare (at least it hasn't
happended to me or the many others who do this all the time.  However
you do have to reselect the device in your Game Controller applet.

But, then again there is no need to do this.  NASCAR2 supports separate
pedals very well.

The limited experience I have had with Win 95 controller
setup is nothing but dismal. NFS 2 is a pig in conparison to
NFS1 when it comes to car control.
Any software writer that commits themselves to using Win
controller setup for their sims will not be doing thewmselves
any favors.  Thank goodness Papy have their own calibration
code.
