"Excellent news for fans of Rally Trophy, Roger Hick has today released the
Nurburgring track, which is based on the GPL model, but it comes with a
twist, its dusk and the sun is low in the sky, so visibility is an issue,
with the sun almost blinding you in several places, and other parts of the
track almost totally dark ! Another nice feature is the option of gravel or
tarmac road surfaces.
You can find the download for the track in the files section."

When RT came out, that was my feeling as well. Just didn't feel right or
enjoyable. I didn't touch it for about a year, until I stumbled upon a post
somewhere mentioning a physics update that really changed the game. I
decided to give it a try, and for me anyway, the updated physics along with
some new sound files really transformed things. The game now feels great to
me. I'm not sure what the current state is in terms of patches, updates,
etc. as I've never been active in the RT community, but the physics patch I
installed a while back was by Ken Kunen and Fred Sundvik, and was named
Finalv1.1.rtp....it also came with an updated RallyTrophy.exe. All this
stuff is presumably still available on the NoGrip site.
I mean, hell, for a chance to drive the Ring ON GRAVEL, it's worth
trying...... :-)

Then, on my second try, on the first straight I was driving on the
road, and all of a sudden my car was magically put outside of the
track again, making me fall down..

I'm no expert, but it sure as hell seemed like I was rocketting down the
road at 70 MPH in a Mini, to my unenlightened mind. It's also a blast to
play multiplayer.
Hmm, now I'm going to have to reinstall that game again.
No, not at any point. gpl's physics may not be perfect, but the RT cars
promise much but ultimately leave me disappointed. I'd really like to like
RT, I've had it since it was released, but It just doesn't cut it in the
realism & feedback departments.
Looks really pretty though ;-)

Truly hard to imagine anyone honestly thinking RT physics might be more
accurate than GPL/NR2003, but if that's how you see it that's certainly fine
by me. My Papy reference was referring to the nausea issue, and that's
simply a statement of fact, not opinion. Driving RT from the in-car view
leaves ME nauseated, while no Papy sim ever has. But neither have the ISI
efforts, for that matter. So call me an ISI fan, too. RT looks great and
"would" be fun for me too - IF it didn't make me want to puke.
I too, fell into a mysterious vortex my first lap around, but didn't even
have to wreck; just went a bit tight into Schwalbenswanz(sp?) and poof -
into the void. Kind of adds to the challenge of memorizing the 'Ring,
remembering where the black holes are... ;-)
