Wo did Install GPL on W2k?

by SaddleTram » Mon, 15 May 2000 04:00:00

This is how I got GPL to run on W2K. ( And it runs just as well as
it runs on W98/SE ).

1- Install GPL... ignore wininet.dll message and any following
messages/warnings.
( If I remember correctly you get one about Direct X version, and one about
avi playback ).

2- After install you will find a GPL update icon on your start menu. Run it
and update the game.

3- Download and install the 1.2 patch.

4- Down load and install the GPL glide patch ( Unofficial 3dfx GPL Patch ),
which consists of :
Glide2x.dll
Glide.ini
Gplform.txt
Make sure you get the latest version. Mine is v1.0.0.6 - follow the
instructions carefully!

5- Run the game and enjoy. ( hopefully ) :-)

Sorry I cant give you the URL`s, but you may get the links from the web page
of Alison Hines, link follows.

Hope this helps.

Ok, I've installed GPL with perfect success in Windows 2000.  Never a
problem, I don't recall if I ignored the 'wininet.dll' everyone's talking
about, but I never installed the the directx update files in gpl and I made
sure the active soemthing thing also failed itself.  Other then that, I
installed the latest patch and works fine without a problem.

Do you have a V2 or a V3?
What's your glide2x version?

Thanks

I have neither.  I use OpenGL mode since I got a Nvidia TNT2.  But before
you go about use a glide2x version, just use the default ones should do you
fine, but make sure that under dxdiag.exe in your winnt/system32 directory,
windows knows and has glide drivers for your card.  Cause if it doesn't, gpl
won't run in 2000 untill you have it, so I recommend you download latest
3dfx drivers fromt he company, not card maker

It knows I have the V3 glide drivers, they just crash the machine on running
though (these are the latest 3dfx win2k drivers)!
I could try OpenGL I suppose...

If you send me your email address I'll send you the fix. It's on most sites,
but I just can't find one at the moment!  It's only 30k.
