GPL Patch Problem

I downloaded the official patch for the UK version of GPL.  Unfortuantly
when I try to install it I get some error about the wrong version or
something.

To get to the point: How so I check which version I have?

If you get gpl to load it's at the bottom right of the splashscreen,
otherwise rightclick the gpl.exe file (in windows explorer) and select
properties, then select the version tab in the dialog and there you'll
find it!
