Patch problems for UK version of GPL

by Cowl » Wed, 25 Aug 1999 04:00:00

I have tried installing the patch for GPL so that I can get the force
feedback through my Interact V4 wheel. When I try to install the patch I get
the following error message "GPL.exe is not a valid previous version and
could not be upgraded". I have the UK version 1,0,0,0 and cannot find a
different patch on the UK Sierra site. The patch I got was from the US site
and will just not work. HELP!!!

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem and it is because you have some of the add-ons, try a
fresh install and then patch, then add the extras.

Hey Bud...just go to the pits..get the UK 1.1 Patch..ok..maybe you've done
that!

then , rather than doing the full reinstall just copy  the gpl.exe
file from the gpl cd..paste it into the gpl folder on your drive ( i hope
you backed up Your gpl.exe file first)..that way the installer will identify
gpl.exe as pristine and unmodified. voila!  jv

Please just copy the GPL.exe from the CD. That works.

Patch problems for UK version of GPL

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Copying the gpl.exe from the
cd didn't work but once I got the UK patch from
http://www.thenorwaypits.com/ the patch installed. After changing the
core.ini file the forcefeedback worked perfectly.

Thanks again.
