Problem with patching GPL, USA version

by Ice » Thu, 16 Mar 2000 04:00:00

I borrowed a used copy of GPL (an original, not a back up), and it seems to
be the USA version (gpl.exe=> properties/version/language= English (United
States). When I try to patch it with the USA 1.2 patch (gpl12_us.exe), I get
the following error:
'The file GPL.exe is not a valid previous version, and could not be
upgraded'

The 1.2 Read Me tells me that it upgrades from version 1.1.0.3, although
according to Papy the 1.2 patch should also upgrade version 1.0. I want to
try upgrading to 1.1.0.3, but I can't find this patch
(http://www.racesimcentral.net/, but the link is broken).

Doe anyone recognize what the problem is? Could it be a bad CDrom?

Thanks, Ice D

You may have installed some pach that altered your gpl.exe file. Try copying
the original file from the cd before you you run the 1.2 pach.

No, it turned out I have the UK version after all, despite the language tab,
which said: 'English (United States)'.
