Hi,

I wanted to download Grand Prix legends, but i saw that minimum requirements

were a pentium 166.
My question is: I have a Pentium 100 will it run on my computer or not.

Thanx,
Richard Hasselt

Well, I have a P200, and I tried it before I had my Diamon Monster 2 in
software mode...BLECH! It ran like crap, so, unless you have a
Voodoo/Voodoo2/Voodoo Rush, don't bother.

I've got a P166 with a Voodoo2 and while it is "driveable" it does not
respond very well. I hope the final version has a little lower (P133
maybe) minimum requirement. I really can't afford a new mobo right
now. :-(

Hehe, that's because you have a Rendition card, supporting RRedline. RRedline
runs very well on lower spec 'puters, so I guess you have the smoothest GPL
running for the smallest amount of money! Lucky you... Not only does it run
well, it looks well, too! So for all you lower end 'puter owners, Rendition
cards are the only cards that will enable you to play decent GPL...

Without being rude, Richard, if the minimum is stated as being a P166
then it is unlikely that whatever ( if ever) runs on your P100 will be
usable.

last week I bought a new computer (AMD K6 300 MHz). The 3Dfx-accelerator
(Monster 3D) arrived a day later. When I tried GPL without 3Dfx, it was
(despite of the processor) slow, even in low resolution (640X480).
The day after, with 3Dfx, it ran very smooth, even in high resolution
(800X600).

So, I think GPL will run on CPU's slower than 300 MHz, too but you will
need a 3Dfx accelerator in any case

Greetings, Han Monsees

About the VooDoo Rush Chitset, the GPL demo WON'T work with the Voodoo
Rush 3Dfx cards, I donno why, but I know first had they don't work.

It won't run, but it might crawl.

Same here but with a Creative Labs Voodoo2 instead. Looks a treat and
runs really smoothly in the very highest resolution (1000x800 or
something similar). In fact it looks not unlike a film a lot of the
time.

Untrue. I have a P200, with 96megs (or 98 megs depending on how you do the
math), and a Monster II with 8megs and it runs perfect on my machine.

There is NO Voodoo RUSH support in the GPL demo.
And knowing my luck, the final product won't either!
And software mode is nice, but unplayable at high speeds.....unless
you count laps around 1:40 fast....

... or a Rendition card ... GPL demo is much prettier on my V1000 card than
on my Voodoo1 ... and frame rate looks to be the same, ie. no slowdowns w/
everything on.
