I have downloaded some stepup for different cars and have put them in
C:\Program Files\GPL 2004 DEMO\players\racer\setups. These seem to work in
single player mode but not in world championship mode. What am I doing
wrong. They are not even listed to select.

I have patched the game with all the official patches and am running windows
xp sp2

You are right to assume that the setups should show in any race mode, but
they are tied to:

The driver
The chassis
The type of car (F1/F2/F3)
The track (although you can browse to other track folders to transfer
setups)

Make sure you are using the same settings for the above four items & you
should find your setups. It will also remember your selected Qually & Race
setups.

Each setup should be saved in \player_name\setups\ inside the particular
folder for that track btw although you can use a setup for one track at
another track by either saving to that folder or copying it in the setup
page.

Thanks for the information. I have figured out a way to get the set up to
show

I am still looking for a way to have speed dispayed on the screen in***pit
view.

There was utility to do that, just do a search on any of the  GPL utiltiy
link pages.  Of course speed is irrelevent in racing as you already know
since only lap times really matter.
